Dear John,
I will never forget the overwhelming tide of anger, frustration, and disbelief that washed over me when the Supreme Court released the Dobbs decision.
It’s safe to say those same feelings persist all these years later.
It is terribly surreal to witness the contradiction of a country that claims to stand for freedom and liberty, yet accepts the subjugation of women. The overturning of Roe only cemented the fact that women today now have fewer rights than the women who came before us—a frightening and unsettling truth.
But it doesn’t have to stay this way. Just as the generations who came before us fought with everything they had to earn historic wins for reproductive freedom, we must all channel our anger today into fighting with everything we have to restore our rights.
This is the important work that NOW is taking on across the country, mobilizing our advocates and members to expand our grassroots movement for women’s rights.
And as we reflect on the impact of the Dobbs ruling this week, I’m asking you to stand with us by making a gift of $10, $20, or more to NOW. Your generosity will immediately be used to ensure that our organizing teams have the resources necessary for critical grassroots movement-building work to defend women’s reproductive rights.
Right now, our NOW activists are pushing to pass abortion rights ballot measures in more states, building on the seven state ballot measure fights we won on abortion rights in 2024. Our advocates are continuing to rally bipartisan support for national legislation like the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would prohibit governmental restrictions on providing or accessing abortion services. And our teams are engaging in ambitious outreach efforts to galvanize support for pro-choice candidates at all levels of government who will fight to fully restore reproductive freedom.
We can achieve these goals—and more—if we’re all in the fight together. Let us know that you’re with us by making as generous a gift as you can to NOW to support our movement-building work today.
