Team, Republicans in the Senate are forcing through a budget that cuts health care for millions of people so they can give billionaires a tax cut.
They’re doing it in the face of near universal opposition. And they’re trying to tie all of their culture war and authoritarian ambitions into that budget, too.
“Failure is not an option.” That’s how Mitch McConnell described this budget. The Republican Party must not fail in its crusade to strip health care from the people who need it most, and give a massive tax break to the richest people in the world. He also said, “they’ll get over it.”
There’s a reason we’re fighting so hard against this, and it’s not hard to understand. Cutting health care for millions of people leaves them with no options. They get sick, they get sicker, and in the worst cases, they die.
I grew up poor. I know what it’s like to do without. And I can tell you something: You don’t get over losing your health care. You don’t get over it when you lose someone you love because they couldn’t get the care they needed.
Trump won on a platform of bringing down costs and making life affordable again. I’m all for it — and I have reached out to the White House to try and point them in the right direction. I’ve never heard back.
What the people who voted for Trump are getting is higher prices, a dollar that’s lost nearly 10% of its value over the last 6 months, and cuts to all the programs they depend on.
He’s failed. And instead of admitting it, accepting it, and working to turn things around, he’s digging us further and further into that hole. It will take decades to recover from this if we don’t stop them now.
I’m working around the clock to raise this alarm, stop this disaster of a budget, and hold these radical MAGA Republicans to account for what they’re trying to do. And if you’re willing, I’m asking you to help support that work.
Please, make a grassroots donation and help me keep going. We have to fight harder than ever now.
