This Saturday, June 28th, is the "Firehouse Primary" to decide our Democratic Party nominee to succeed Gerry Connolly and represent us in the United States House of Representatives.
Do you have a plan to get your vote in by Saturday?
If you voted earlier this month in the Virginia primaries that concluded on June 13th, this race was not on your ballot then - and if you live in the 11th Congressional District, you have until Saturday to make your choice in this election. (Click here to check your district.)
On Tuesday, 9 of the 10 candidates seeking the Democratic nomination gathered for a forum and spent more than two hours discussing the issues impacting our community today and how each of them would fight for us in Congress. You can view the forum on YouTube:
The Republican majority in Congress is razor thin, and the person we choose to represent us will be a critical voice in defense of our region. From federal workers to immigrant populations to veterans and other recipients of federal benefits, President Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill" is bad for our community in so many ways, but it all depends on a Congress that is willing to pass his agenda. We need a representative who will stand up and speak out for us.
The timing of Congressman Connolly's passing and the Governor's decision to hold the special election on September 9th means we have to get the word out to our voters, so please talk to your friends and neighbors, donate, volunteer, and above all else: vote, vote, vote!
