Friend,
Three years ago, I stood in the White House Rose Garden, shoulder to shoulder with other gun violence survivors like me, while President Biden signed into law the most comprehensive set of gun violence prevention policies in 30 years, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
This consequential piece of legislation enhanced Brady background checks, targeted illegal gun trafficking, invested in community violence intervention, and so much more. It is a package of policies that the American people not only desperately needed but widely supported – and it led to the largest homicide rate drop in recent history and a 20% drop in mass shootings.

I remember the immense pride and joy I felt that day three years ago. I hold my mom in my heart every day but I felt her presence even more that day – she was shot and killed at the door to her home and this historic day meant other families would be saved from the kind of heartbreak mine faced.
My feelings today are quite different: I’m angry at an administration that puts gun lobby profits over people’s lives. But I’m also fighting harder than ever for the country I want to live in, that I want my kids to live in, that I want all Americans to safely live in. If you’re still fighting with me, will you sign Brady’s petition now and send a clear message to lawmakers: We need action to prevent gun violence NOW. >>

We now face a polar opposite presidential administration – one that’s in the pocket of the gun lobby, dedicated to benefiting gun executives instead of the American people. But the passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act proved what can happen when grassroots supporters keep fighting as a united front, pushing toward a safer America.

President Trump took office mere months ago and went directly to work dismantling this life-saving progress that we were able to accomplish – he cut community violence intervention funding, legalized machine guns, and put extremists in charge of the ATF. But Brady is fighting him tooth and nail at every turn. We’ve fought the Trump Administration before and won. We’ve fought the gun lobby before and won. We know how to fight these threats to our lives but we need every single one of you fighting with us.
We may not have as many allies in the White House or Congress, but that doesn’t mean we ease up on our fight to save lives – we have to fight harder than ever. We passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act because we refused to let Congress off the hook; we wouldn’t accept inaction in the face of tragedy. We won’t let them play with our lives now, either.
Add your name to Brady’s urgent petition to Congress demanding action to prevent gun violence. >>
