In our vision, every person, regardless of their life circumstances or background, has a:
-
Right to Housing: a safe home that meets their needs.
-
Right to Opportunity: high-quality jobs, services, schools, and other public resources close to home.
-
Right to Affordability: a home that costs no more than 25% of their income.
Our communities are failing to meet these rights. In the same way that wages have failed to keep up with inflation, the number of available homes has failed to keep up with population growth. We’re millions of homes behind, especially in providing for low-income renters. That’s why our nonprofit, the largest pro-housing advocacy organization in the country, is fighting to close this gap. We’ve proven that the policies we’re pushing for in communities across the country are successful in unlocking millions of more affordable homes of all shapes and sizes.
When there is abundant housing, we can choose the type of home that’s right for us and our families instead of feeling stuck because there aren’t any available homes. When there is abundant housing, we will have more negotiating power to advocate for lower prices and more amenities. When there is abundant housing, we can choose to live close to the jobs, schools, parks, and other opportunities that meet our needs.
If you believe in these 3 fundamental rights, and you’re ready to join the fight, support our work today!
