As we approach the June 30 deadline of our Spring Campaign, I want to share with you a thought a friend of the magazine told me recently.
FIRST THINGS, unlike the monocultures at elite universities, is a community of readers exhibiting genuine diversity when it comes to intellectual, religious, and vocational commitments. Our subscribers include Christians, Jews, and Muslims. I’d venture that we have Republicans and Democrats, perhaps even monarchists and socialists in the mix.
What unites our readers is seeking perspectives informed by permanent truths, and a conviction that serving God is our highest calling—even as we dispute with each other about how to do so!
This is what makes our publication such an important supplement to one’s faith and education. And it is why the ever-loyal FIRST THINGS readership (for which I am ever grateful) has contributed just over $400,000 to our Spring Campaign thus far.
