John,
Today is Juneteenth, commemorating 155 years since the end of slavery in the United States. We honor Black life, freedom, and joy. But we don't forget the struggle that came before it and continues today. Today, we renew our commitment to fighting with our Black brothers and sisters to secure equal rights. It is through our collective action and spirit that new days will dawn.
Juneteenth comes just a day after the Supreme Court ruled that Trump was wrong in terminating the DACA program, which protects more than 700,000 DREAMers from deportation. We know that the fight for justice and inclusion doesn't end today and we will pause to appreciate all the work that led to the Supreme Court's ruling to protect immigrants and reject Trump's white nationalist agenda. Our founder and president Sayu Bhojwani's full statement on this landmark decision is here.
This is a momentous win for all #PeopleLikeUs, but especially for Dreamers—such as our alums Belen Sisa and Tony Valdovinos—who continue to lead and strengthen our movement to create a more inclusive democracy.
This decision was announced just a few days after another historic ruling by the Supreme Court. On Monday, the Court issued their opinion in Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia, making it illegal for someone to be fired based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. Especially in the middle of Pride Month, this decision is a huge win for LGBTQ+ people and brings us all closer to creating a more equitable society.
In the midst of such challenging times, it's important that we take the time to pause and reflect on these moments. As we all continue to grow, support one another, and continue our struggle for justice, these moments can strengthen us, allow us to see how far we have come, and motivate us to continue our fight.

We are proud to stand with you in both the struggles and celebrations. Thank you for all you do for yourself, your community, and our movement!
Yours in the fight,
The NAL Team
