Happy Pride month, John! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Across the world, people are coming together to celebrate LGBTQ+ visibility.
At a time when federal nondiscrimination protections, gender-affirming care, and so much more are at risk, it is more important than ever to unapologetically show up and celebrate queer joy.
Remember, John: Pride began as a protest. In the 60s and 70s, police would routinely raid queer gathering spaces. What became known as the Stonewall uprising and the foundation of Pride month was initially a protest in response to police raiding a queer bar on June 28, 1969. The very first Pride marches took place the next year to commemorate the resilience and unapologetic joy of the LGBTQ+ community.
The Squad will always defend the rights of LGBTQ+ people to show up in the world exactly as they are.
