Government officials should not profit from public office. Surely that’s something we can all agree on, right?

Not Donald Trump. He is currently engaged in the most egregious form of political corruption we've seen in modern history. Here's what's going on:

When Donald Trump took office, he launched a "meme coin" and netted himself hundreds of millions of dollars.

This allows people from all over the world, including foreign nationals who are prohibited from giving to American political campaigns, to put money directly into Trump's pockets and influence U.S. policy.

Everyone with millions of dollars to give to Trump has a seat at the table.

Everyone else? You're out of luck.

This should not be how we operate in this country, which is why I introduced the COIN Act this week — to establish important guardrails that prevent public officials from profiting from their digital assets while serving in office.
