John,
Republicans are scrambling. Their plan was to hold a vote in the Senate tomorrow. That timeline is slipping.
Republicans are starting to panic because they put so much of Trump’s agenda into one big bill―tax cuts for billionaires, millions of people kicked off their health care, giveaways to prescription drug companies, and more.
The pressure is getting to them. Mitch McConnell told his caucus yesterday "I know a lot of us are hearing from people back home about Medicaid. But they'll get over it."1
The hundreds of hospitals that will close won’t get over it. The 51,000 people per year who will die won’t get over it.2
We can stop this bill―but it’s going to take all of our voices. Can you call (202) 224-3121 right now and ask to speak with both of your Senators? Here’s what you can tell them:
As your constituent, I am appalled at the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which slashes Medicaid and gives massive handouts to millionaires and billionaires. We should not enact tax giveaways to billionaires on the backs of working people. I will be watching your votes and keeping them in mind for your next election campaign, and I certainly hope that you will vote NO at every stage.
After your call, hang up and call back and ask to speak with your other Senator!
Social Security Works is mobilizing to beat this bill. We’ve held rallies in front of hospitals that will close, and run billboard trucks in key states to make sure working Americans know what’s at stake. Can you chip in to keep up the pressure and save Medicare and Medicaid from Trump?
Thank you,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
