New mothers aren’t able to breastfeed their newborns, young children are struggling to get their next meal, and families are desperately looking for water amid dehydration, all while vital aid funding is getting slashed. One Mercy Corps team member in Sudan was strong enough to put this experience into words. She said, "Water is almost nonexistent, and we sometimes spend hours searching just to get a small amount. There’s been no electricity for weeks, and no gas for cooking. Medical care is almost non-existent and getting access to medicine or clinics is very difficult and dangerous." My heart aches when I hear what innocent families are going through as they face conflict, disaster, displacement, and hunger.
