Zohran Mamdani, A Muslim Communist, Takes New York City’s Democratic Primary

Last year, I helped my good friend and fellow ophthalmologist Mike Goldstein in his race against Congressman Jim Himes in Fairfield County, Connecticut. We knew he had little chance, but someone had to fight, and Mike did.

Himes knew this too. He did not bother to campaign and ran few ads. His war chest of $2 million eclipsed our paltry $40,000 but several orders of magnitude. I called Himes’s office so many times to arrange a debate that they blocked my number. But eventually Himes consented in the final week of the campaign.

I expected Congressman Himes to be gracious. Afterall, this Harvard graduate and Rhodes scholar with movie star looks had little reason to dislike Goldstein who is unfailingly polite and was not a threat.

And I was dead wrong.

Himes attacked Goldstein like a rabid dog, calling him a MAGA Republican and castigating him for some bureaucratic glitch on esoteric environmental laws regarding the construction of his swimming pool. He even accused Mike of hiring illegal immigrants – a complete fabrication.

But why?

Because Congressman Himes knew something we didn’t. He knew Trump was probably going to win because he had access to accurate internal polling, unlike the mendacious push polls – such as the Quinnipiac poll – that overstate Democratic support, with the hope of discouraging Republican turnout.

He also knew what would happen if Trump won. He along with his fellow mainstream Democrats, such as Senator Murphy, would be reduced to insignificance and forced to make endless videos with the hope one or two would become viral. He knew the mainstream press was dead. He knew no one cares anymore about what the New York Times thinks. And most important – he knew that the liberal base of the Democratic Party would be calling for his head.

Afterall, it is moderate Democrats like Jim Himes who tell the liberals that they are unelectable. Who rigged the primary rules to destroy Bernie Sanders in favor of Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden. Who nominated Kamala Harris without a single Democrat voting for her.

The Democrats even ejected their vice chair David Hogg in a backroom deal after Hogg won his position fair-and-square.

And what was David Hogg’s crime? He said is was time to get rid of the tired old fogies in the Democratic Party – the fogies who pushed the feckless Biden, the loser Harris and the perpetual Nancy Pelosi.

Congressman Himes may like to attend the No Kings rally attacking Donald Trump, but when it comes to behaving like real kings, you can’t beat Democratic Party insiders.

Which brings us to Zohran Mamdani who just won the Democratic primary in New York City, making him the favorite to be the next mayor.

While he is claiming to be a socialist, he is really a communist. He wants to establish government food stores supposedly to stop the greedy capitalists from exploiting the masses. Never mind that every time this has been tried in the past – it results in long lines for stale bread. He wants to globalize the intifada, the movement to abolish Israel. He wants to impose massive rent control which will result in uninhabitable housing as it has so many times in the past. He wants to replace the police with social workers.

Mamdani’s father is a Marxist professor and Mamdani’ middle name is Kwame, after the Marxist Ghanan president, Kwame Nkrumah, whose Communist polices decimated this once prosperous country in the 1960s.

Mamdani was even too much for the liberal New York Times, who led a campaign against him and even stated “We do not believe that Mr. Mamdani deserves a spot on New Yorkers’ ballots.”

Mamdani’s main opponent was the useless Andrew Cuomo, who was booted out of the Governor’s mansion after being accused of sexually harassing employees.

But the real reason for Mamdani’s victory is liberal hatred of President Trump and those they perceive enabled his victory, the corporate Democratic establishment. This base has watched President Trump secure our border, deport illegals, gut the climate change movement, slash bureaucrat sinecures, support Israel and bomb Iran. Trump’s conservative appointees to the Supreme Court have mostly overturned lower court rulings limiting Trump’s power while outraging liberals with decisions such as allowing Tennessee to ban gender-affirming treatments.

They have rioted, burned Teslas and screamed at mainstream Democrats behind closed doors. But now they have come up with the most effective weapon – voting.

Hello Comrade Mamdani.

What will really be fascinating is to see how the establishment Democrats react. Will Cuomo run third party? Will Michael Bloomberg run again or finance another candidate? Will the powers that be get behind incumbent mayor Eric Adams who is running as in independent? Will the New York Times suck up to Mamdani or back another candidate? Stay tuned and get out the popcorn. This is going to be entertaining for all political junkies.
