Hi there,

Today on Juneteenth, we celebrate the moment — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was enacted — when a group of Americans finally learned that they were free.

This holiday is a joyful day, but it’s also a reminder that justice has often been delayed or denied for Black Americans. That reminder is especially pressing this year, as we mourn the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and so many others.

Over the last several weeks, we’ve seen an incredible national uprising to demand equality and freedom for all Americans.

We’ve come together to fight for change — in the streets through peaceful protests, in the halls of Congress, and in tough conversations with our friends and family.

I know that by working together, we can advance equality and build a fairer world that respects and honors the diversity that makes us strong.

These are challenging days and the path to justice has never been easy — but when we’ve stood united, we’ve won.

Onward for justice,
