Our very own Dulce Garcia was among other Dreamers who were able to speak with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

We received a very special email this week we thought we’d share with all of you. It read as follows:
Hello Ms. Garcia, (Dulce Garcia, Executive Director)
This is Asim, the Sudanese asylum seeker that your colleagues and you have successfully liberated a week ago from OMDC.
Yeah, I aware that you might be busy now with processing of freeing someone else from detention or maybe with traveling to somewhere to explain it to somebody and convince them to join and support your efforts.
Anyway.. I wanted to express my deep gratitude to you and Border Angels for releasing us from the detention.
What you do is so amazing and incredible that is wasn’t be possible for to get out of the detention without your massive support, guys.
We are so touched that despite everything he has gone through, he remains such a positive, kind soul and that he took the time to send us a message. This email serves as a small reminder of why we we will continue our fight against hate, racist and inhumane policies. This is why we continue to work towards freeing as many people as we can from detention.
We are so grateful for your continued support because when Asim thanks us, he also thanks ALL of YOU!!

We are overjoyed to share with you one more story of a recipient of our Families Reunidas Bond Program. Masud is a 27-year-old asylum seeker from Cameroon who was in detention for 4 months. Upon his release he was finally able to eat a proper warm African meal. Despite all of his hardships, Masud is one of the happiest asylum-seekers we have met. He was so excited to finally begin to feel welcomed in this country.
Masud is on his way to the East Coast to begin his new life, surrounded by his loving friends and family.
Before leaving San Diego, he was reunited with Yafeu! It had only been a short time since they had seen each other, but now both of them are free. Their lives have completely changed in such a short period of time. They survived being at the Otay Mesa Detention Center, and then found freedom together.
Masud met Yafeu (see our previous post) and began an amazing friendship while in the Otay Mesa Detention Center. They found incredible strength in one another. We are so touched to hear that these two incredible individuals supported and uplifted each other.
They are an example to all of us on the power of kindness. We must all work together and support one another to ensure that we end the unjust treatment of immigrants and POCs, especially during a global pandemic. Again, we are thankful to work with Minority Humanitarian Foundation, and share this sliver of happiness in such difficult times.
Let this story serve as a reminder of all the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and community members waiting in such conditions in detention, simply for seeking a place or a part in this country. Masud represents so many others that are subjected to racist and inhumane policies. We must not forget the urgency of getting everyone we can out of the Otay Mesa Detention Center. This pandemic continues to be unforgiving and we will not allow any more lives lost.

The event featured speakers, musical performers as well as a slideshow projection of amazing artwork by local artists that explores themes of solidarity and liberation for all those that are inhumanely detained inside of Otay Mesa Detention Center.

There is so much changing in the desert and mountains these days due to border construction and Border Patrol surveillance. Luckily our teams were able to reach some far away locations to get supplies to where they are most needed.
There was a lot of rock climbing and scrambling, at some points using all four limbs to secure ourselves to get to these crucial areas.
A special THANK YOU to everyone on our team who came out to join us Saturday and to those that have continued to do so since the COVID drops have been going on every week. It is exhausting to get out for a full day of physical exertion in the heat after a long week, and everyone who comes out gladly does so for the cause.
As long as there are people crossing, we will be there to leave supplies. We will never leave the borderlands and will never stop leaving life-saving supplies for those that travel through them.

It is crucial that we help these children as they have already suffered enough abuse, neglect and/or abandonment.

Despite the growing challenges of this pandemic, Border Angels remains determined to protect and support the community we have pledged to serve. Even though we are currently unable to accept physical donations, we are always accepting monetary donations to support:
1. Our Shelter Aid Program❤️: Especially now that we are unable to receive these items, we need your help to provide funds for groceries, hygiene products, utility bills, rent, clothes, etc.!
2. Familias Reunidas Bond Program👨👩👧: Given the severity of this outbreak, we NEED to get as many people out of the Otay Mesa Detention Center as we can. With your help we can post bond for more individuals! (Link in highlights under Bond Program)
3. Water Drop Program💧: Even after having to postpone public water drops, our team is still constantly in the desert scouting and dropping the supplies necessary for survival. Their work never stops because the need never stops.
