John,
I'm a farmer's daughter. Growing up on a farm, I've seen firsthand the changes in the way we grow our food – and how the influence of corporations and big ag is threatening the safety of that food.
So when pro-polluter lawmakers in my home state of Iowa introduced the Cancer Gag Act – a bill that would have prevented Iowa residents like me from suing pesticide companies over the health impacts of their products, including cancer – I knew I had to take action.
Joining together with other Food & Water Watch members across the state, we fought back - and won – but there are so many more battles just like this one happening all across the country. They need everyday people like you and me to join in and fight – and that’s why, today, I’m inviting you to join me in standing with Food & Water Watch as a member.

The farm I knew as a kid produced a wide range of crops and livestock, and we loved our work and what we grew. I have so many fond memories, including one time when we brought eleven baby lambs into our basement to warm them up in winter. I worked a bunch of jobs on the farm, and while it was hard work, I just loved it and had no complaints. It was a great place to grow up.
But family farms like the one I grew up on have become more and more rare, pushed out by corporate consolidation and big agribusiness. With that has come water pollution, air pollution, and less consumer choice. And now the Trump administration is putting corporate efforts to dismantle protections for our food, water, and climate into overdrive. We must come together to stop this dangerous agenda.
Food & Water Watch is offering this special membership rate until the end of the month to help power the fight for people and the planet this summer! I hope you’ll join now to be part of the fight. ([link removed])
As a Food & Water Watch member, I’m part of a national organization that smartly and strategically engages with people like you and me to build the people power needed to win. I’ve seen this firsthand in Iowa, joining with Food & Water Watch to talk with people at farmers markets, gathering signatures for a moratorium on factory farms, and successfully stopping Iowa’s Cancer Gag Act.
We’re living in a scary political climate where so much that I care about – clean water, safe food, and a livable climate – is under attack. As a member, I know I’m part of a community that’s fighting back and that my donation is going to support real, impactful campaigns that are making a difference. And now a generous supporter has pledged to triple donations as part of this membership drive.
I’m proud to be a Food & Water Watch member, and I hope you’ll join me in starting your Food & Water Watch membership today! ([link removed])
