I can't emphasize enough how urgent it is that we move quickly. The Trump administration and its allies in Congress are waging an all-out assault on our environment — and the clock is ticking.
In just a matter of days, Congress is expected to pass a sweeping reconciliation bill packed with devastating rollbacks that threaten our public lands, fast-track fossil fuel projects, and weaken essential environmental safeguards.
And that’s on top of the more than 200 actions the Trump administration has already taken to dismantle protections and put polluters first, including:
- Fast-tracking new drilling leases in pristine ecosystems like the Arctic Refuge and eviscerating protections so that Big Oil can pillage them for profit.
- Requiring mandatory oil and gas lease sales across America's shores, from Alaska's fragile waters to the Gulf of Mexico, forcing us to auction off our natural heritage to the highest bidder.
- Gutting regulations that keep our air and water clean so polluters can dump toxins into our environment without consequence while our families pay the price with their health.
- Blocking historic investments in clean energy and climate solutions that created jobs and addressed our planet's greatest existential threat.
- Putting oil and gas lobbyists in charge of environmental agencies, ensuring every decision favors polluter profits over public health.
The scale and breadth of these actions cannot be overstated. But we've got reasons to believe we can mitigate the worst of these anti-environmental actions.
