I'm Maria Elvira Salazar or MES for short, and I'm a Republican running for
Congress in Florida. 


I’ve recently been announced as an NRCC YOUNG GUN, which means my fight for
Miami has been recognized as one of theHOTTEST races in the country! Democrats
are sleeping on this race. They have a Hillary Clinton backed crony and former
Clinton Foundation President, Donna Shalala, in this seat. They believe they’re
going to walk away with this race, but the NRCC and I know something that they
don’t:this election will be a referendum on Nancy Pelosi and AOC’s push for
socialism and radicalism around the country!

I’ve spent my entire career fighting for liberty and freedom in my community
of Miami! I’m going to tell you a little about myself, my life as a
first-generation Cuban-American, my career exposing socialism around Latin
America, and how I will strike fear into the hearts of every socialist in
Congress. I hope by the end of this email, I’ll have won your support for my
fight to protect the liberty and freedom of our magnificent country.If I have

I was born in Little Havana in Miami to parents who fled Cuba with just $5 in
their pocket, a taste of freedom, and the hope of building their own American
Dream.

Being raised in Miami and Puerto Rico, I grew up with the stories of the
oppressive communist regime in Cuba, led by the cruel dictator Fidel Castro,
from which my parents and many from our community escaped. This experience
forged in me the importance of liberty and profound pride for the United States
of America, but it also proved to me the fragility of freedom.

It's much like President Ronald Reagan once said,



"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't
pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected,
and handed on for them to do the same."


This passion for the pursuit of freedom helped me succeed in my studies as I
graduated from the University of Miami and then put myself through Harvard
University.


That same passion led me to a career in journalism where I interviewed a wide
range of notable social and political leaders. I became the first
Spanish-language reporter for an American news station.


My specialty was uncovering and exposing communist and socialist regimes in
Latin America. I spent three years reporting from a Central AmericanWARZONE in
El Salvador!


I stood up to and challenged Fidel Castro in his first interview on American
soil. That day I saw the face of evil. It was socialism!

I've never wanted to run for political office.



But I knew I had to act when I saw radicals like Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez, who wanted to bring the nightmare of socialism to our country!

I will bring a new voice to the Republican Party. Someone who has the fight in
them and love for freedom. I'm MES. And I stood up to Castro. I'll have no
problem standing up to Nancy Pelosi and AOC.

My race is one of the top Congressional races in America. Republicans always
held this seat until 2018, when Democrats flipped it blue. And now, a Democrat
who served in theCLINTON Administration and is close with Hillary Clinton
represents us. Her name is Donna Shalala, and she holds the very socialist
values that will destroy my home of Miami and this country!

I'll be a champion for freedom and liberty. I've fought socialism before. I'll
never let it come here. I will ensure our children and the next generation
enjoy the same freedom my parents came seeking all those years ago!
