Hi- When I worked for Mayor Mike Bloomberg as his Chief Policy Advisor, gun safety was considered a third-rail in American politics. No one—Democrat or Republican—wanted to touch the subject. But after years of watching families in New York City suffer the trauma of gun violence, we simply couldn't look away. When we left City Hall, I didn't walk away from the work. I was honored to help lead what would become Everytown for Gun Safety—building on the efforts of survivors, advocates, and grassroots leaders who had already been fighting for change. Together, we asked: Could we build a movement strong enough to take on the gun lobby? Today, we have our answer. Everytown is now the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country—with nearly 11 million grassroots volunteers, supporters, and donors in every state and an undeniable record of real, life-saving wins.
