The polls are closed, but the race isn’t over yet.
Thanks to your support, your calls, your door knocks, and your belief in people-powered politics, Zohran Mamdani is leading the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City.
Mamdani was ranked highest by voters across communities. In a crowded field, he earned broad, diverse support and rose to the top through New York City’s ranked choice voting system. As of last night, Andrew Cuomo conceded the race and Mamdani is LEADING in the New York City mayoral primary after the first round of counting.
In New York City, ranked-choice voting means it may take several days before we know the final results of Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral race. What we do know is this: our movement has momentum, and every single vote matters.

This campaign has been about something much bigger than one candidate. It’s about building a generational shift in political power, led by unapologetic, people-powered Muslim leadership.
We’re proud of what we’ve built, and we’re still watching this race closely, and we’re not slowing down.
We are proud to support our City Council endorsees who also won their races last night: Alexa Avilés (D38), Amanda Farias (D8), Shahana Hanif (D39) and Yusef Salaam (D9).
Thank you for standing with us, for believing in what’s possible, and for being part of this movement.
With gratitude,
