Dear Friend,

Today I delivered my first speech as Leader of the Liberal Party at the National Press Club.

I spoke not just about politics, but about life. My life, and the lives of so many Australians who work hard and play by the rules.

I came to this country as a migrant child. I have worked as a cleaner, a waitress, a short-order cook, a mustering pilot, and a public servant.

I’ve raised three children while working and studying. I’ve lived through tough times – like so many others.

Right now, too many Australians are working harder just to stay still.

The Australian promise: that if you work hard and do your best, you’ll get ahead, feels broken.

I want to help fix that.

As Leader of the Liberal Party, I will fight for:

- Lower taxes that reward hard work.
- A fairer go for families, young people and retirees.
- Safer communities and real action on domestic violence.
- Better support for parents and children in a digital world.
- Stronger defence to protect Australia in uncertain times.
- A modern Liberal Party that reflects today’s Australia.
I also spoke today about the state of our Party. We didn’t just lose the last election; we were sent a clear message. I’ve heard that message. We all have.

That’s why we’ve begun a full review of what went wrong and how we can earn back the trust of voters. It won’t be easy but we’re ready for the hard work.

We’ll rebuild, not just in Canberra, but in communities right across the country. We will talk with Australians, listen to their concerns, and put forward a plan for a better future.

We will always stand up for aspiration and for every Australian chasing a better life for themselves and their families.

If you believe in reward for effort, personal responsibility and a country that backs its citizens, then I hope you’ll continue to stand with us.

Under my leadership, we will respect modern Australia, reflect modern Australia and represent modern Australia.
