Three years ago today, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, undoing nearly 50 years of precedent and ending constitutional protections for women who need access to reproductive health care across New Hampshire and the nation.
The Supreme Court’s decision has set us back generations in the fight for women’s reproductive freedom. It has emboldened extremists across America — including here in New Hampshire — to further restrict access to life-saving reproductive health care. They are pursuing an extreme agenda to further restrict access to abortion, IVF, and even contraception nationwide.
When I was almost 20 weeks pregnant, we got the devastating news that we had lost our son.
I needed immediate in-patient OB-GYN care, but doctors’ offices were overrun by patients traveling north from states with draconian restrictions on reproductive health care. I was unable to get an appointment and was forced to manage a stillbirth by myself.
Ultimately, I was able to access the care I needed. But too many women are being denied the critical reproductive and maternal care they deserve.
And now, Trump is back in the White House. Republicans control Congress. And they are once again pushing a national abortion ban — one that would override New Hampshire’s laws and ban abortion nationwide.
In Congress, I’m doing everything I can to stop their dangerous agenda. But we’re up against a well-funded, coordinated movement determined to roll back our rights.
We must be prepared for anything that comes our way, but I can’t do that without your continued support. I need your help to ensure we have what it takes to defend reproductive rights and protect the full range of health care for all women.
