Mitch McConnell Says People Worried About Medicaid Cuts Will 'Get Over It' - Newsweek

John,

Medicaid covers one third of Kentuckians, half of Kentucky kids, and 70% of the long term care costs our seniors rely on. The bill that Republicans are negotiating in the Senate will gut this coverage and threaten rural healthcare all over the country.

And what does Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, in a closed-door meeting with other Republican senators, have to say about this?

“I know a lot of us are hearing from people back home about Medicaid. But they’ll get over it.”

Folks, 16 million Americans are going to lose their healthcare if this bill becomes law. What McConnell said is callous and cruel.

This is not what leadership looks like. As I’ve said many times, our elected leaders should make decisions with the best interests of their people in mind.

I’m fighting for better leadership here in Kentucky and across the country, because we can’t allow people in Washington to keep passing laws that hurt people. Medicaid keeps Kentuckians and people in all 50 states alive, keeps them healthy, and makes sure they have a doctor or a hospital to go to when they or a loved one gets sick.

We need real change, and it starts with electing for-the-people leaders up and down the ballot. Will you take a stand with me today and say enough is enough? Chip in any amount right now and join me fighting for a kind of leadership each and every one of us deserves. >> [link removed]

Thank you,

Andy
