John,
Three years ago today, a monumental event took place, an event many thought would never happen: Roe v. Wade was overturned.
As I reflect on this Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision that overturned Roe, I am reminded of the powerful truth that even seemingly impossible battles can be won ([link removed] ) .
Despite all the ups and downs the pro-life movement has endured since that day, it is important for us to look back at how far we’ve come.
For almost 50 years, our nation lived with the stain of Roe, a blot on the conscience of America.
During those years, dedicated pro-life individuals fought to see the injustice of that decision overturned so that lives — and our culture at large — can be saved. Many longed to see the day of Roe’s demise and never made it. They worked for a future they did not live to see. They fought an impossible battle that was, ultimately, won.
Today, many people are understandably discouraged. The fall of Roe did not bring about the ultimate victory many hoped it would. Although this federal wrong has been righted, America is now a patchwork quilt of abortion laws, protecting preborn children to varying degrees.
States we thought we could count on have wavered, and even the strongest state protections are being nullified by the easily mailed abortion pill and state travel.
Many people feel that we are facing yet another impossible battle as we pursue the new North Star of the pro-life movement, which is the total ban of abortion — both legally and culturally — and a recognition of fetal personhood under the 14th Amendment.
It’s easy to let the setbacks make us feel defeated. Yet, this is where I take the most encouragement from this anniversary. One “impossible” battle has already been won, so, with the help of God, we can be confident in winning more.
And we are seeing progress. One study from earlier this year estimates that over 22,000 lives have been saved by recently enacted pro-life laws. Also, Live Action’s Baby Olivia video has inspired preborn development bills to be required in the schools of six states (and counting)!
In fact, right now, we are on the verge of seeing another seemingly impossible victory that Live Action has spent years fighting for: the defunding of abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
No one ever said that abolishing abortion would be easy, that it wouldn’t take a long time, or that it would come without sacrifice. But the fight is worth it, and I know it’s one we can win.
Lead a local demonstration on Saturday

In Scripture, our Lord Jesus tells us that “with God all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26). St. Paul writes, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Gal. 6:9).
We are not alone in this fight.
I believe we will see abortion abolished in our lifetime, but it’s going to take dedicated people who are willing to keep on fighting, no matter how long it takes or how many setbacks we face, and even if we do not live to see the final victory.
I believe you are one such person, John. That’s why you’re here, and it’s why I’m asking you to do two things today.
First, will you pray with me? Pray for our nation, pray for our leaders, pray for the Church, pray for the defunding of Planned Parenthood, pray for the end of abortion, pray for a culture to flourish that protects and values human life at every stage of development, whether born or preborn.
Second, if you have not already, will you sign up to lead or attend a local “Defund Day” demonstration at your local Planned Parenthood on Saturday, June 28?
The pro-life movement has never been this close to defunding America’s biggest abortion chain, and we must show our nation’s leaders that we do NOT want our taxpayer dollars funding the deaths of innocent children. Sign up here: [link removed] ([link removed] )
Your support enables the ongoing mission of Live Action to change hearts and minds from pro-abortion to pro-life through compelling conversations like those featured in “Face to Face,” high-quality educational tools like Baby Olivia, and by exposing the brutal reality of abortion to those who have been blinded by the abortion industry’s propaganda.
We are truly in a pivotal time of history, and the possibility of defunding Planned Parenthood is promising. Sign up to be part of a truly historical day here ([link removed] ) .
By the grace of God and the dedication of faithful pro-life activists, we have come this far, which has paved the way for new victories. Let’s allow the successes of the past inspire and propel us onward as we continue to fight for a future where abortion is repulsive to all and the dignity of every human life is recognized.
Thank you for standing with us on behalf of the most vulnerable!
