Team — Trump cannot be trusted.
His ordering of a U.S. strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities violates the War Powers Act, puts American servicemembers and civilians in the region at risk, and invites an escalation to a wider regional war in the Middle East.
Trump doesn’t care about the U.S. Constitution or that the American people do not want another endless war.
Friend, The War Powers Act exists to prevent a President from taking us to war on their whims. It exists to prevent situations just like what we’ve seen over the last week, and by violating this law Trump has shown that he is willing to take unconstitutional military action and throw a diplomatic solution out the window.
That’s why I signed on to legislation that would ensure President Trump gets Congressional approval before taking any more action in Iran.
The stakes here are too high for Trump to leave the rest of us in the dark, and Americans will not stand for a President dragging us into a disastrous regional war.
