Hello there,
Donald Trump has taken a stand against the truth and against democracy, insisting that there is “NO WAY” that an election with mail-in-voting would represent the will of the people.
But the will of the people is clear: almost 75% of Americans want universal access to vote-by-mail. And research published in The New York Times shows who would benefit from its implementation, namely largely disenfranchised groups like young voters, voters of color, and those who tend to vote less frequently.
That kind of bridge toward equal representation is exactly what Trump is trying to build a wall against -- in his own words, if vote-by-mail came to pass, “you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again.”
That may be true. But right now, we’ll settle for protecting the right of disenfranchised groups across the country to cast their ballot in November -- no matter who they want to vote for. We must act now to protect minority and low-income communities that have not only been hit hardest by the ongoing crisis but have also been historically underserved by our democracy and oppressed by this president.
Thank you for standing with us,
ASPIRE
