Roseate Spoonbill.
Since 1970, the U.S. and Canada have lost 3 billion birds—a full quarter of our total bird population gone. And in 2023, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service declared 10 bird species extinct—the largest number of extinctions ever announced by the government. It’s too late to help those we’ve lost, but surviving birds need you more than ever. This year's State of the Birds report confirms that one-third of U.S. birds need conservation action now.
Birds like the Roseate Spoonbill are counting on you for protection not just today, but tomorrow, too. Celebrate our 120th anniversary by starting your annual donation right away. For a limited time, your first gift will go 2X as far, thanks to a generous group of donors. ([link removed])
[Audubon 120 years.] ([link removed])
For 120 years, we have protected birds and the places they need—and our work in the Gulf shows what's possible when we act together. After the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster in 2010, we didn't just respond to the crisis—we transformed our approach. By launching our Coastal Bird Stewardship Program on the Gulf Coast, we were able to monitor ongoing impacts, mobilize volunteers for recovery efforts, and develop comprehensive restoration solutions. In 2019, we released a Gulf Restoration Plan that supports critical projects like the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion to restore wetlands and protect species like the Roseate Spoonbill.
The results speak for themselves: Where we work—and when you help—birds are better off. But we must do more while there’s still time. So please, join us with an annual gift now while your first gift will be matched, up to $75,000, to shape a safer, healthier world for birds and people alike. ([link removed])
