The U.S. House of Representatives is targeting Immigrants Rising for doing what’s right.
Here’s what you need to know—and how you can stand with us.

Dear John,
On June 10, 2025, Immigrants Rising received a letter from the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security. The letter accuses us, along with more than 200 other nonprofit organizations nationwide, of using federal funding to support undocumented immigrants and “facilitate illegal immigration.” This accusation is not only false—it’s part of a coordinated political attack on the organizations and communities fighting for immigrant justice.
Let us be clear:
✅ Immigrants Rising does not receive a single dollar of federal funding.
✅ Our work is entirely legal, transparent, and community-centered.
✅ We exist to support undocumented people and their dreams, education, and economic mobility—and we always will.
This inquiry has nothing to do with accountability and everything to do with intimidation. It is an attempt to criminalize dignity and respect, punish organizations like ours for standing with immigrant communities, and send a chilling message to those who dare to dream of a more just future.
We are not intimidated. We are not changing course. We are in close contact with legal counsel, advocacy partners, and peer organizations. Together, we are monitoring this investigation and crafting a coordinated response. We remain vigilant, prepared, and grounded in our mission.
As someone who was undocumented for 27 years, this isn’t just political, it’s personal. I know what it feels like to live in fear, to wonder if your mere existence will be targeted. And I know I’m not alone. It’s awful to witness people being kidnapped and deported without due process, and organizations being targeted for simply standing up for what is right. I feel heartbroken, angry, and more committed than ever to this fight as part of the resistance.
We do not know yet what will come next. But here’s what we do know:
- We will keep supporting undocumented students on their path to college.
- We will keep building economic power in immigrant communities.
- We will fight for policies that protect, uplift, and empower.
- And we will keep showing up for our communities, because that’s what this moment demands.
This is your moment to stand up and fight with us.
If you believe in immigrant futures—if you’ve been moved, supported, or inspired by this work—now is the time to invest in it.

Your support sends a clear message: we will not be silenced!
We’ll keep you informed as this situation unfolds. Stay vigilant, and most importantly, remain standing in solidarity.
