Three years ago on this very day, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

And our country hasn’t been the same since, John.

The far-right, activist Supreme Court, with 5 justices appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote in the United States, overturned 50 years of precedent and ripped away a fundamental freedom from millions of Americans.

I’m still so alarmed at the danger this decision created for millions of women and families.

Across the country, states have issued total and near-total abortion bans. Far-right judges have come after medication abortion, in-vitro fertilization, contraception, and doctors who provide women with reproductive health care.

And Donald Trump continues to double down on his anti-abortion stance. He’s gloated about the undoing of Roe under his administration. He’s filled his Cabinet and administration with anti-abortion activists. Not to mention who he would nominate if he gets a Supreme Court vacancy. And they will stop at nothing to control women’s healthcare decisions.

John, I ran for Senate to stop the dangerous Trump agenda and put some checks on a radical Supreme Court hellbent on forcing a social agenda on a country that does not want it.

Here are some ways we can stand up to these extreme right-wing assaults on our freedoms — and we must. Here is what we must do when we retake the majority in the Senate:

➡️ Expand our Supreme Court: Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump stacked the Supreme Court, and unless we want an entire generation to suffer, we must unstack it.

➡️ Impose term limits on the Court.

➡️ Pass an enforceable code of ethics in the court.

➡️ Codify abortion and reproductive health care rights once and for all.

As I said, I’m still alarmed about this decision and its devastating consequences, as much as I was on the day it was decided. And I will not give up until we’ve restored the protections from Roe v. Wade and ensured that women have the right to control their own bodies. This is an issue that affects all of us. When a country starts losing its rights, it starts losing its democracy. Access to abortion care is about human rights and fundamental freedoms.
