As the proud son of Mexican immigrants, I know what it’s like to grow and often be treated with suspicion instead of dignity.

That’s why what’s happening right now is especially painful:

Trump’s unprecedented immigration crackdown is leaving children terrified and ‘truly alone’

This administration is advancing one of the cruelest, most dehumanizing immigration crackdowns we’ve ever seen. They’re targeting children and caregivers – detaining unaccompanied minors longer, and using them as bait to arrest the people who care for them.

Right here in California, one woman brought her 10-year old daughter to what was supposed to be a routine check-in at an immigration office.

Agents arrested her on the spot – right in front of her child. A mother and daughter, ripped apart.

At a time when immigrant communities in California are under attack, our so-called representative should be speaking up. But instead, he’s staying silent while his party ramps up detention and rips up away protections.

You can take action, John. If you believe in compassion, not cruelty, I’m asking you to take action. Call David Valadao’s office and demand he stands up for our community.
