![]() I don’t think any of us were surprised when Donald Trump decided to stack his cabinet with corporate interests and ultra-wealthy billionaires. After all, that level of cronyism was par for the course during his first term. What is shocking is just how out in the open the rest of his corruption is. He’s directing massive sums of taxpayer money to his own properties. He’s profiting millions off his own cryptocurrency after deregulating the industry. He’s ending investigations into his corporate supporters. And he’s pardoning executives convicted of financial crimes. It’s not complicated: When you work for the government, you work for the people. That’s why I’ve made it a priority to clean up Washington and make sure our government actually represents regular Americans — not deep-pocketed special interest groups. But today, it’s clear that Donald Trump doesn’t agree. Instead, he’s more than happy to run his pay-to-play schemes, as long as he’s the one making the profit. The standard for public servants should be higher, not lower. That’s why I’m working day and night to make that higher standard the law of the land, by banning stock trading in Congress, ending the dominance of big money in politics, and expanding conflict of interest laws.
