John, Three years ago today, the United States Supreme Court took away the fundamental constitutional right of all people to make decisions about their own bodies.
Many of you reading may remember where you were on that day when the Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
I was traveling from Washington, DC to a maternal health event in Illinois when I heard the news, and it became clear: Women of this generation would have fewer rights than my generation or my mother's generation.
Our work now is about fighting for all of them and for the generations to come.
Over the past three years, women of our nation have suffered under the consequences of laws made possible by Dobbs. Laws that have created chaos, confusion, and fear. Laws that have denied the women of our country care, even when their life and health were at risk.
There is so much on the line, but it is a noble fight, always, to fight for freedom.
I know it is not easy. I know these are difficult times, and it requires a whole lot of courage. It requires a level of optimism to remember that we're fighting for something, not against something.
So today, I am asking you to make a donation to the Democratic National Committee.
The DNC is leading so much of the good and important work to uphold our fundamental reproductive freedoms and to elect a Democratic House and Senate to protect those freedoms in the future.
Donations are critical to their success, and we know that when we fight together, we make a difference. So please:
