Dear Health Advocates,

Families USA invites you to a Special Edition Big Tent Call TODAY, Tuesday, June 24 from 4:00-5:00 pm ET. On this call we'll provide an update on the status of the reconciliation bill, share new resources and ways you can make your voice heard with your members of Congress this week, and highlight the work of state and national advocates. Register here.

With just 10 days until their July 4th deadline, Republicans and Democrats are working this week with the Senate Parliamentarian on the Senate Finance Committee's portion of the reconciliation bill. Over the weekend, the Parliamentarian ruled on several provisions, including a SNAP cut plan that would have shifted costs for food aid to state governments. Republicans with either need to rewrite the provision or will ignore the parliamentarian, which would create a dangerous precedent. We expect Republicans to move the full bill to the Senate floor potentially as soon as Wednesday.

Earlier this week, Families USA released a new report detailing how federal Medicaid cuts included in the current budget reconciliation bill would impact hospital revenues and drive independent rural hospitals to the brink of closure. These findings bolster evidence that cuts to Medicaid severely threaten the financial viability of rural health care providers (including independent rural providers) across the nation and will further exacerbate hospital consolidation in rural communities.

Finally, health, faith and anti-hunger advocates across the country are joining together for a relay fast to demonstrate the harmful impacts of the reconciliation bill and its cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. Cohorts are fasting for 24 hours before passing it to the next cohort until Congress goes on break. Join and share the fast at ProtestFast.org and use the #EmptyPlatesProtest. FRAC, Families USA, Coalition on Human Needs and other national organizations will host a 30 minute webinar on the #EmptyPlatesProtest on June 25th at 3:00pm ET.
