Today marks three years since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade and ended 50 years of constitutional protections for reproductive care.
Since then, we’ve seen a wave of abortion bans sweep across the country, including right here in South Carolina. Just last month, our state’s Supreme Court upheld a six-week abortion ban -- a law so extreme many women don’t even know they’re pregnant before care is denied.
And it’s only gotten worse. Just this month, the Trump administration stripped federal protections for emergency abortion providers, even in cases where a woman’s life is at risk and even if bans exist in their states.
Today, more than 36 million women of reproductive age live in states with abortion bans. We’ve seen threats to abortion medication, restrictions on travel for care, attacks on IVF, and even talk of banning contraception.
These decisions don’t belong in the hands of politicians or judges. They belong with women, their doctors, and their families.
If we’re going to restore and protect access to all forms of reproductive care, we must take back the House and re-elect a Democratic majority committed to protecting reproductive freedom.
And to do that, we need to raise the financial resources to help Democrats run strong campaigns that can win this November and in the midterms. That’s where you can make a difference, John. Please contribute before the FEC deadline this Monday.
