Whole Foods was one of the first companies to announce major plastic reduction goals -- but the shelves of its stores are still packed with plastic packaging.[1]

Companies need to do better.

Customers want sustainable choices when we shop, not endless piles of plastic that are doomed to sit in a landfill or become pollution.

This summer, we're kicking our campaigns to urge Whole Foods and other retailers to cut wasteful plastic into the next gear. Will you help make it happen, John?

Plastic pollution is a big problem -- but PIRG has a plan to make effective, common-sense solutions a reality.

It starts on store shelves, and not just at Whole Foods. We're calling on companies from Trader Joe's to Costco to cut back on wasteful plastic packaging. We've even helped convince Whole Foods' parent company Amazon to reduce some of the single-use packaging in its shipments.[3]

There's still so much more work to do, but we're making progress.

Our work to move our country beyond plastic doesn't stop with corporations. It continues in cities and states across the nation. Thanks in part to our work to phase out wasteful plastic, one-third of Americans live in a state with restrictions on at least one form of single-use plastic.[4]
