Cooling Assistance Resources
Get Cool: Cooling Centers & Cooling Assistance Resources

We are in Day #2 of our first official heat wave of the summer, and it's hot!

It's important to take steps to stay cool because extreme heat is the deadliest impact of climate change. Here are some resources to help you cope with this heat wave:

Find Your Nearest Cooling Center
Enter your address and find the nearest Cooling Centers along with other cooling options in your neighborhood.

Beat the Heat & Heat.gov
These are two resources to help you prepare for extreme heat, recognize the signs of heat-related illness, and stay safe in the heat.

To better prepare for the next heat wave, we encourage you to download and share this Cooling Assistance Resources flyer with your family, friends, and neighbors. The resources available include:

New York City’s Air Conditioner Assistance
See if you are eligible for up to $800 for a window, portable air conditioner, or fan and up to $1,000 for an existing wall sleeve air conditioner.

New York State’s Air Conditioner Assistance
See if you are eligible for a free air conditioner under New York State’s Essential Plan Cooling Program.

New York State’s LIHEAP Cooling Assistance
See if you are eligible for LIHEAP, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which can help provide financial assistance to cool your home.

U.S. CDC’s HeatRisk Forecast
Enter your zip code to get the HeatRisk for your community this week along with actions you can take to keep you and your family safe.
