Dear Jack, In May, the House passed their so-called “One Big, Beautiful Bill” that will fund President Trump’s destructive agenda. This bill is built on environmental giveaways that will hand public lands over to corporations—all to give the rich more tax breaks. It’s up to us to fight back. Take action now. |
This bill is, as Congressman Jared Huffman (D-CA) called it, “the most destructive environmental bill in American history.” It includes outrageous provisions to: - Force leasing and mining in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and Boundary Waters watershed;
- Dramatically lower the royalties that oil and gas companies must return to taxpayers;
- Allow special interests to effectively buy their way out of legal scrutiny when launching new development projects
- Sidestep public input in decision-making required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
By opening hundreds of millions of acres to drilling, mining and logging to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy, this bill harms the tens of millions of people who like to hike, recreate or find solace in the outdoors. We must fight back to protect our public lands for future generations and reject this massive giveaway to powerful corporate interests. Sign The Wilderness Society Action Fund’s petition now to tell your representative that you oppose “the most destructive environmental bill in American history.” |
