I didn’t think we would win
Friend,
When I first ran for the Minneapolis School Board, I didn’t think we would win. Heck, I didn’t even think I was the right person to run — I tried to recruit someone else!!
I thought I would stand up for our community and share important concerns. But I never imagined how many of my neighbors shared those concerns.
While I was running, I met an old woman at a public housing complex for urban native communities.
She was selling frybread — and had a little Folgers coffee can where everyone was putting in $5. After we spoke, she took $5 out, put it in my hand, and wrapped her finger around it.
She told me: “My girl, we’re so proud of you.”
That $5 meant more to me than a giant check from someone I knew could afford it.
I’m running for Senate to give back to the communities that have given me so much. I want to be the voice for Minnesota families in Washington. And folks know it.
This is a grassroots campaign, powered by normal Minnesota families chipping in $5 or $10 at a time.
Since our launch, our average contribution has been just $25. Some people give more, some people give less. But I am honored and humbled by every donation.
Please, donate to my campaign for the U.S. Senate ahead of our FEC filing deadline a week from today.
