Today is Juneteenth. On this day in 1865, word rang out in Galveston, Texas that the Civil War was over and all enslaved men, women, and children were now free. While we honor this milestone in African American freedom, it’s time we take action on all we still need to do to achieve racial equity and justice.

Our country was built on systemic racism and oppression of the Black community and all people of color. Now we must listen and learn about how best to change our systems so that they work for every single person in this country – not just for white individuals.

On Tuesday, June 23rd from 7:00-8:30 PM, join us for a virtual town hall on Racial Equity and Justice. David Patrick and Desiree Vargas, along with other advocates, of Racial Equity and Justice Maine will lead a discussion on the ways in which our current system has failed our BIPOC brothers and sisters and how we can take action to be anti-racist in all aspects of our lives now and as we raise future generations.
