On Monday, while traveling across the district, I stopped by and joined WCLO radioin their studio. We discussed the tough issues facing us and the work I am doing in Congress to move our nation forward.
This includes voting for strong government reforms that reduce waste, fraud, and abuse like:
Instituting work requirements for able-bodied, childless adults to receive Medicaid.
Requiring citizenship verification for taxpayer-funded programs.
Eliminating duplicative payments that have cost the federal government billions of dollars.
News broke last week that Border Agents did not release a single illegal immigrant into the United States for the month of May. This is down more than 60,000compared to May 2024 under the Biden Administration.
Thanks in part to executive actions of President Trump, fewer illegal immigrants are attempting to cross our border. In May, Border Patrol agents were able to stop 8,725 illegal immigrants from attempting to cross the southern border. This is a 93% decrease from the 117,000encounters in 2024.
In Congress, I am working to help codify President Trump’s executive actions stopping the illegal immigration, human trafficking, and fentanyl crises stemming from our southern border. This includes voting for:
$4 billion to hire 8,000 new customs and border agents.
