Donald Trump was recently asked whether he’s obligated to follow the Constitution. His response? “I don’t know. I’m not a lawyer.”

That should worry all of us. As someone who took an oath to uphold the Constitution — and meant it — I’m not going to let his answer slide.

That’s why my office has filed more than 20 lawsuits aimed at blocking unlawful executive orders and policies since Trump took office in January.

Let me be clear: I am taking these legal actions not because I disagree with them personally, but because it is my duty as Attorney General to uphold our Constitution and protect the people of Illinois.

Each week brings a new legal battle. Some begin with temporary restraining orders. Others move to appeals. But every one of them is about protecting people — and holding those in power accountable.
