John, it’s crunch time.
Senate Republicans say they want to pass their tax bill by July 4th.
So what I’m going to do until then is point out the things that are absolutely outrageous about this bill — the things that make this fight not about right or left, but about right or wrong.
So today, let’s talk about food stamps.
Millions of families will lose food support. In fact, Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” is the biggest cut to food aid in history.
These are families that, on average, spend less than a year or two on food stamps. Families that hit hard times or face an unexpected crisis.
And those food stamps help our most vulnerable citizens have enough food on the table to get them through those difficult times and ensure their children don’t suffer.
Remember, these programs that they’re gutting and cutting are not going to drive down the deficit. Instead, under the bill, the deficit is going to go up dramatically — by trillions of dollars.
They are literally robbing working-class, low-income people to give the wealthiest among us bigger tax cuts. That is a moral abomination.
We have 11 days to stop this betrayal of a bill and prevent it from passing the United States Senate. We can do this, John.
There are already enough Senators who are starting to show some hesitation. We did it during Trump’s first term, when John McCain, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins joined with Democrats to say NO to the pulling down of the Affordable Care Act.
We have the power. It’s time to use it.
