Hi John,

The Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision that no person can be discriminated against by their employer on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

This is a major victory in the courts, one that clears the way for more necessary protections for LGBTQ+ people, towards prohibiting discrimination against anyone for who they are or who they love.

We’re thrilled about the outcome in this case, but we know there are still critical fights ahead of us -- and it’ll take all of us to ensure our LGBTQ+ friends, family, and loved ones receive the rights and protections they deserve.

Last year, Mary Gay was proud to participate in hearings and lead debate in Congress when the House passed the Equality Act. That bill would address many issues left unresolved by the court decision, but it sits on Mitch McConnell’s desk because he refuses to allow a Senate vote on the Act.
