A new
report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
cited that 95 out of 128 million people forcibly displaced by conflict are
living in countries facing food crises.
That means families fleeing conflict or disaster face a new threat:
Hunger.
Fleeing for survival and a better life puts families at risk of hunger, in
addition to disease outbreaks, dehydration, and violence, which threaten
their lives.
Families facing complex challenges like displacement, hunger, and poverty
need your support today.

Severe weather, rising cost of living, and lack of water and nutritious
food mean families who are away from home are at greater risk of
succumbing to malnutrition and hunger. Mercy Corps is on the ground
delivering lifesaving aid and life-sustaining support to those who need it
most:
In Sudan, 7.7 million people — 57% of the population — face acute
malnutrition due to conflict, displacement, and disease. With
escalated attacks inside Sudan, civilians’ lives are at greater risk.
Mercy Corps is on the ground providing lifesaving aid to families
struggling to survive after years of conflict. Since conflict began in
2023, we’ve reached over 1.4 million people across Sudan with
humanitarian assistance.
In Ethiopia, there are more than 4.2 million internally displaced
people due to conflict and political instability. Extreme floods,
heavy rain, and landslides have also driven people out of their homes
and cut their access to food. We’re providing vouchers so families can
buy fresh produce from local vendors and provide for their families.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is also facing a displacement crisis,
with more than 5.6 million Congolese internally displaced and over
529,000 refugees from neighboring countries such as South Sudan and
the Central African Republic. Mercy Corps is improving access to clean
and drinking water to ensure families can cook and take care of basic
needs.
Your
support today can fuel our emergency efforts and enable us to deliver more
for families who need it most. Amid violent conflict and other crises,
hunger is threatening the lives of young children, mothers, and the
elderly. Your help is needed to create an even bigger difference for
families worldwide.
