Email from MCRGO   MICHIGAN COALITION FOR RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS "Promoting safe use and ownership of firearms through education, litigation, and legislation." ACTION ALERT   Senate to Vote on Gun Control We have received word that the Michigan Senate is expected to vote on several gun control bills this coming Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Please email your Michigan state senator today to ask them to vote against this legislation. Senate Bill 331 and Senate Bill 332, often called the "ghost gun" ban, would seriously restrict the ability of hobbyists to build firearms for their personal use. This includes a prohibition on possessing a firearm or any completed or unfinished frame or receiver that was not imprinted with a valid serial number, as well as prohibiting the use of a three-dimensional (3D) printer or computer numerical control milling machine for unlicensed firearms production. Senate Bill 224 would prohibit a person from manufacturing, selling, offering for sale, or possessing a bump stock. A violation would be a felony punishable by up to five years' imprisonment or a maximum fine of $2,500, or both. Absurdly, this is an even more draconian penalty than the law that applies to fully automatic firearms. It occurs even though the federal bump stock prohibition was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled that such laws are unconstitutional and in violation of due process. Senate Bill 225 and Senate Bill 226 expand gun-free zones and concealed pistol-free zones by banning carry in the Michigan State Capitol Building and the legislative office buildings. Firearms are already limited in these locations, but the bills would place the restrictions in state law, making it far more difficult to reverse them in the future. Legislators would receive an exemption under the bills. MCRGO strongly opposes this legislation and asks that you send a quick email to your state senator asking them to vote NO on the bills.
