The Big Ugly Bill that’s being rammed through Congress by Republicans would devastate Medicaid by hundreds of billions of dollars, and it would still cut taxes for the rich so much that it triggers an automatic $500 billion cut to Medicare. Because of these health care cuts, experts say 51,000 Americans will die every year, and hundreds of hospitals will close.

We can still stop it. That’s why Social Security Works and our allies turned people out in front of hospitals that would face closure if the Republican bill passes. These protests got coverage on local news while members of Congress were in their home states.
