![]() House votes to kill funding for public media Public media outlets like PBS and Colorado Public Radio keep millions of Coloradans informed on what’s happening in Congress and around the world. And at a time when fake news and misinformation are at an all-time high, people need access to trustworthy, unbiased sources of news and information more than ever. But now, House Republicans sided with Trump by voting to eliminate federal funding for public media outlets, including NPR and PBS. Now, the bill goes to the Senate, and we have to urge them to stop these cuts from taking effect.
Make no mistake: Trump’s desire to defund public media isn’t about “waste, fraud, and abuse.” It’s about attacking any media outlet that doesn’t regurgitate his talking points. While Trump and the GOP are determined to spread their propaganda and misinformation through any means necessary, public media outlets like NPR and PBS are leading the fight to deliver truthful, nonpartisan news to the American people. Now more than ever, people need access to unbiased sources of news and information. That’s why we have to make sure we protect the funding that public media relies on.
