Eagle Forum, the conservative grassroots organization founded by Phyllis Schlafly in 1972, urges concerned Americans to get involved to elect conservatives this November. As the recent rioting, looting, calls to defund the police, and a spate of constitutionally unsound Supreme Court decisions show, the Rule of Law in our nation is in peril.
Â
“Americans are feeling unsettled when they see rioting and looting in the street while elected officials fail to act and instead sell out their vulnerable constituents by making dangerous, politically-motivated calls to defund the police,” said Eagle Forum President Colleen Holcomb.Â
Â
Eagle Forum joined with leaders throughout the country in signing a letter to President Trump asking him to restore the Rule of Law. We were pleased to see President Trump’s Executive Order which is aimed at supporting law enforcement to protect our communities, but we need grassroots activists fully engaged to ensure that we elect bold leaders who will protect us this November.
“Additionally, in just one week the Supreme Court ignored the Second Amendment by refusing to hear ten cases presenting valid questions regarding overreaching gun control laws, the Court overruled a challenge to California’s Sanctuary City policy and President Trump’s decision to end DACA, a program that allows amnesty for illegal immigrants brought to America as children, even though, as Justice Thomas noted, DACA was an unlawful policy to begin with,” said Holcomb. “The Court also took it upon itself to make changes that only the legislature is constitutionally empowered to make to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by redefining the word “sex” to include protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.”
“It’s no wonder Americans are scared, particularly after just emerging from the COVID-19 crisis to now see elected leaders supporting rioters and calling to defund police, then the highest Court in the land issues a series of decisions that so blatantly ignore the Constitution,” Holcomb noted.Â
Holcomb concluded, “We want to send the message of hope that Americans are not powerless against this assault on the Rule of Law and our Constitution. We must all get involved to elect brave conservatives this November who will fight to restore safety and restore our nation to its foundational principles.”
