John,
Pride Month is a time to celebrate love, visibility, and the ongoing fight for equality. It’s a time to honor the courage and strength of our LGBTQ+ friends and loved ones — and to recommit ourselves to building a city where everyone can thrive, no matter who they are or who they love.
Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ community has always been a vital part of what makes our city strong.
As Council President, I believe in a Philly where every person feels safe, supported, and seen. That means addressing key disparities in housing, education, healthcare, and employment that impact our LGBTQ+ community, and creating spaces where young people can grow up without fear.
Happy Pride Month, Philadelphia!
— Council President Kenyatta Johnson
