Hi John,
The attacks on our communities and the people resisting Trump’s policies continue to unfold in front of our eyes.
We’re seeing the lengths that the Trump regime will go to to harm our communities and target anyone that opposes them. From abducting family members and loved ones, to attacking protesters with tear gas and flash-bang grenades, to arresting labor leaders and local elected officials. And Trump continues to deploy a classic authoritarian tactic: trying to paint a picture of conflict and violence to justify even more repression and cruelty.
Our task is to tell the true story of how ICE raids and authoritarianism harm all of us, and how people are pushing back through nonviolence, community, and solidarity. Our affiliates are doing just that—supporting families of abducted folks, working quickly with partners and allies, and sharing critical information and resources to keep our communities safe.

Southern California has been at the center of Trump’s onslaught these past several weeks. The region is also a nexus for our network: home to five of our affiliate organizations and powerful coalitions that have jumped into action.
Public furor began after ICE abducted people working in LA’s fashion district on June 6th, sparking a weekend of mass demonstrations. That Monday, our affiliates and national staff helped Trabajadores Unidos Workers United host a press conference outside a fashion district warehouse. Relatives and allies of abducted workers spoke about the deep harm caused to their families and protested the kidnapping of more than 40 immigrant community members. Our network’s communications teams made sure their words were heard, with coverage in the LA Times [[link removed]] , Washington Post [[link removed]] , as well as local [[link removed]] , national [[link removed]] , and international [[link removed]] TV news.
As ICE continued its militarized raids, our staff and affiliates supported another press event with the CLEAN Carwash Worker Center. Family members of abducted carwasheros echoed the pain and cruelty of the targeted ICE raids, demanding the immediate release of their loved ones. Their stories were reported in the New York Times [[link removed]] , CBS News [[link removed]] , AP [[link removed]] , and many other publications.
Then ICE moved into the fields of the Central Coast, showing up at farms without judicial warrants. A robust rapid response network that our affiliate CAUSE had helped establish sprang to work, and the pushback from community members and farm owners prevented more farmworkers from being abducted [[link removed]] .
Many of the people ICE has kidnapped are being taken to a detention center in Adelanto (in the desert east of LA) operated by private prison corporation GEO Group. Last week, our affiliate the Warehouse Worker Resource Center joined CHIRLA and other immigrant advocacy groups in drawing attention to the inhumane conditions at the prison. A delegation of Congressmembers inspected the facility, and shared with the throng of reporters what they heard from those held inside: people denied medication [[link removed]] , others unable to change their underwear for 10 days [[link removed]] .
We’re mobilizing our resources to do more of this work — coordinating and preparing our affiliates to stop Trump’s invasion and repression in our cities. Can you contribute to help our groups on the ground respond quickly to these attacks? [[link removed]]

Together with the support of everyday people, our network will do what it takes to protect our communities and defend our democracy.
