@mwickens
John,
This weekend, the U.S. launched precision strikes on Iran’s
nuclear facilities, marking a critical milestone in the global effort
to halt Tehran’s atomic weapons program.
As we continue to follow the situation, today we’re
also marking Canada’s National Day of Remembrance for Victims of
Terrorism—and inviting
you to join us in urging our government to hold Iran accountable for
its heinous record of terrorism.
This solemn day reminds us that the Iranian threat extends
far beyond missiles and uranium enrichment. As the world’s leading
state sponsor of terrorism, Iran arms, trains, funds and directs
terror groups like Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Hamas. Having funded
and encouraged the October 7 atrocities, Iran bears full
responsibility for the murder of eight Canadians that day—along with
other Canadian victims of Tehran’s terrorism.
While inflicting violence and pain across the Middle
East, Iranian terror has impacted Canadians around the world.
In 2020, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard
Corps shot down Ukrainian Flight PS752—a civilian aircraft—killing 55
Canadians in one of the worst acts of terror in our
history.
Worse still, the threat of the Iranian regime is on
our doorstep.
Reports show that up to 700 individuals linked to the Iranian
regime are living in Canada. Iranian agents have threatened
Iranian-Canadian citizens, plotted to assassinate former Liberal
Justice Minister Irwin Cotler and used Canada as a platform to spread
the Ayatollah’s radical agenda.
It should come as no surprise that we are now seeing
pro-terror supporters on Canada’s streets, with a dangerous mix of
demonstrators marching under the flag of the Islamic
Republic of Iran, the Palestinian flag, the flags of designated terror
groups and even flags of Canadian labour unions (CUPE and OPSEU), all
while chanting “Bomb Tel
Aviv” and “Globalize the
Intifada.”
We should all be gravely
concerned.
Just last week, Canada’s spy agency sounded the alarm:
Iranian regime activities targeting Canada and its allies may
escalate. Meanwhile, police departments across the country—from
Vancouver to Toronto—have heightened their alert
levels.
Now is the time for strong measures to protect
Canadians from the threat posed by the Iranian
regime. We are urging the Public Safety Minister
to:
-
Bolster security for Jewish
communities across Canada
-
Block Iranian agents from
operating in or entering Canada
-
Ban the glorification of terrorism
in Canada
- Boost RCMP and CSIS resources to monitor
and disrupt hostile foreign actors, including the IRGC, Hamas,
Hezbollah and other terror proxies
Can
we count on you to join us in sending this
message?
Thank you in advance for speaking up for the victims of this
evil regime.
Sincerely, Noah
Shack, CIJA
